One-off and recurring goals
Run a goal once, or have it repeat daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Goals come in two rhythms: a one-off with a deadline, or a recurring goal that repeats on a cadence. You choose with the same simple picker used across all of Steer.
One-off goals
A one-off goal happens once and has a finish date. Progress accumulates toward a single target, and Steer forecasts whether you'll reach it by your deadline.
Examples:
- Save €5,000 by December
- Read 50 books this year
- Run a half-marathon by spring
When a one-off goal hits its target, it's complete.
Recurring goals
A recurring goal resets each period and asks the same thing again and again. Steer tracks each period separately, so you can see your rhythm over time.
Choose from five cadences:
- Daily — e.g. drink 8 glasses of water
- Weekly — e.g. 3 gym sessions
- Monthly — e.g. read 2 books
- Quarterly — e.g. one deep-clean
- Yearly — e.g. one big trip
For a recurring goal, your target is per period ("3 sessions per week"), and Steer shows a strip of past periods — done, missed, ahead or behind — alongside the current one in progress.
Your week, your day
Periods follow your own calendar and timezone. "Today" and "this week" mean your today and your week — not some server's clock. You can set your week start in Preferences.
How cadence affects the forecast
Cadence changes what "on track" means:
- For a one-off goal, Steer compares your total progress to the time left until your deadline.
- For a recurring goal, Steer looks at how you're doing this period and your rhythm across recent periods.

Changing cadence later
You can change a goal's cadence, but because it reshapes how past progress is bucketed, Steer warns you first and may suggest completing the goal and starting fresh instead — so your history stays meaningful.
