Goals overview
How goals work in Steer, and what makes them forward-looking instead of just another tracker.
2 min read
A goal is a destination — something you want to reach by a certain time. Where most apps just count what you've done, Steer's goals are forward-looking: from your real pace, Steer forecasts whether you'll actually make it, and tells you early if you're drifting.
Why Steer's goals are different
Big plans usually fail quietly. You only notice you're behind when it's too late to catch up. Steer fixes that by always answering: "At this rate, will I get there in time?"
- A finish forecast, not just a streak.
- A clear status at a glance — ahead, on track, behind, or at risk.
- Goals that can update themselves from your connected apps.
The shape of a goal
Every goal is built from a few simple choices:
A metric goal builds toward a number (read 50 books). A milestone goal is a yes/no thing you either do or don't (file my taxes).
A goal can happen once or recur — daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.
The number or outcome you're aiming for, and the date you want it by.
Steer's read on whether you'll get there in time, updated as you log progress.
Managing your goals
The Goals screen shows your active goals as cards. Each card shows the title, your progress, the cadence, and a pace status — with subtle colour cues when a goal is falling behind. You can:
- Filter by frequency or pace status, and sort by what needs attention, progress or name.
- Switch between a grid and a list layout.
- Open the View history screen to review every period and edit past entries.
Completed and archived goals tuck away into a collapsible section at the bottom, so your board stays focused on what's live.
Plan limits
Included free
The free plan supports up to 3 active goals — enough to focus on what matters. Completed and archived goals don't count against the limit.
Pro feature
Pro removes the limit entirely — track as many goals as you like.
