Google Calendar
Two-way calendar sync that also detects your habits from past events. Free for everyone.

Connecting Google Calendar is the fastest way to make Steer genuinely useful. It brings in your history, spots your habits on the calendar and logs them for you, and can keep your calendar and Steer in step.
Included free
Calendar sync is free — included on every plan, with no limits.
What it does
Steer reads up to the last two years of events (you choose how far) so it has enough history to recognise your patterns.
When a calendar event matches one of your habits, Steer logs it automatically — no more remembering to tick things off.
With write-back on, Steer adds your upcoming predicted habits to your calendar — a true two-way link.
Connecting it
Open Connections
Go to Settings → Connections and choose Google Calendar.
Sign in with Google
You'll sign in securely through Google's own screen and grant Steer access. Steer never sees your Google password.
Choose your calendars
Pick which of your calendars Steer should watch — turn each one on or off. Only the ones you choose are ever read.
Set how far back to look
Choose how much history to import, from one month up to two years. More history helps Steer learn your rhythms faster.
How habit logging works
Steer compares your calendar events to the habits you track and logs the ones that fit:
- A clear match — an event whose name closely matches a habit — is logged automatically.
- A looser match is added as a suggestion to verify, so a wrong guess never throws off your rhythm. You confirm it with a tap.
Steer can also spot brand-new habits hiding in your calendar and propose them for you to accept or dismiss — see Habits from your calendar.
Checking what was logged
Open any habit's history and you'll see which entries came from your calendar. Each calendar-linked entry shows a small calendar chip — tap it to see the original event or open it in Google Calendar, so you can always check why something was logged.
If Steer missed one, you can link it yourself: on a logged occurrence, choose Link calendar event, pick the matching event, and Steer both records the link and remembers it for next time.
Two-way sync and write-back
You control whether Steer can write to your calendar. With write-back on, your upcoming predicted habits appear as calendar events so everything lives in one place. Prefer read-only? Leave write-back off and Steer will only ever read.
Managing and disconnecting
In Settings → Connections you can see the last sync time, change which calendars sync, adjust how far back to import, toggle write-back, sync now, or disconnect entirely. Disconnecting stops all syncing immediately; the occurrences already logged from your calendar stay in Steer.
